OUR HISTORY
Double H Squares of Huber Heights 1984 to Present
The group that became the Double H Square Dance Club started 7 September 1984 as the Grin ‘N Square It Square Dance Class in the basement of the Huber Height’s VFW. The class taught by John and Gay Chevalier, started with 34 people. On 15 April 1985 some of the class members met at the Western Sizzling Steak House in Fairborn to organize as a club. The club name, the Double H Square Dance Club was taken from the name Huber Heights. The class name, the Grin ‘N Square It Square Dance Class was used for succeeding classes for many years. The first dance was held on 7 June 1985 at the Monticello School on Alter Road. In June 1986 the club moved to Weisenborn School in Huber Heights. The club moved again to other sites before the current location of Sulphur Grove Methodist Church. The first club banner raid was 24 May 1985 at the Grand Squares.
